Artist's Comments

Some of you may remember me posting this: [link] in the winter. I finally got a photo of what the tattoo looked like when it was inked. It's on my buddy Nick's shoulder blade... he wanted it to be very small, about 3", so not much of the detail could translate... but I think it would make for a really awesome starting point of a backpiece of sorts.

Wow, that's beautiful. :D

Hey the fact that your artwork is permanently on somebodies body forever is fucking awesome even if it's only 3 inches. If I ever need a tattoo designed I'll probably ask you to draw it for me. IF because I don't know if I want a tattoo quite yet... but it's always something I've pondered. If I was to get one it would be to represent that I'm a Pisces, but I would want it to be totally original. I thought about mermaids because that's not something I've seen often. Anyways, awesome job.. I hope you find more willing people to mark!

I don't mind the size. I'm ecstatic that I even got a photo of it! (It took him more than half a year to take it.) And I'm really honored that you'd consider me to design your tattoo IF you get one. I've thought of getting a mermaid/siren tattoo myself, I think they're an amazing myth and symbol and it'd be cool if you decided to have one because I love drawing them... anyway... it'd be neat to get my art on more people. :) I'm going to design Justini's tattoos if he ever decides on something to actually get. (He's wanted a tattoo since he turned 18 but he never got around to making any big decisions...) But... I digress. :P

This healed very soft and gentle. I'm glad that Ericka is able to do a piece on such a small scale, with no visible blow out. :) It's a bit of a gentle variation on the actual image, and I'm certain it was a challenge for her to accurately reproduce your image, at this small scale. But yes, I can imagine it would be a good start for a backpiece, especially one with no outlines, and gentle, soft washes of ink.

Yeah. It only took her about an hour, too, and she didn't seem to have much trouble with it. When Nick had his consultation with her and she saw my piece she said it'd be very easy to translate to a tattoo. I was excited. :) He says he was considering making it into a backpiece, too.

That's rad. I'd love to see how she works with large pieces.

Oh wow! Beautiful work on the original design! That's a fantastic tattoo! The colours are superb. Great start to a back piece! *suddenly wants more tattoos herself*
